29 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN PUNCHES OUT THE ONLY BATTER HE FACED!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Joey Rickard

Veteran Aussie PETER MOYLAN required five pitches, including four strikes, to punch out the only batter he was asked to face today while pitching for the Kansas City Royals in their 4-6 defeat by the Minnesota Twins. With one on and one out in the top of the sixth, Moylan did what he needed to do by striking out Miguel Sano who was out looking for the second out of the inning. His ultra brief line for the day was 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (5.59 ERA).

After missing the early part of this season on the disabled list, DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was back at his short stop post for the New York Yankees today, batting 2-5 (.400) in a 14-11 slugfest win over the Baltimore Orioles. In the opposing camp, left fielder JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) also batted 2-5 (.182) as the leadoff batter for the 'O-Birds'. Also for Baltimore, reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was one of the few pitchers to escape unscathed with 0.2ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (1.50 ERA) that brought him his fourth hold of the season.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-5 (.231) to help his Tampa Bay Rays to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 this morning.

Detroit Tigers' centre fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-4 (.300) and he scored a run in a game where his team were rolled 3-7 by their division rival Chicago White Sox.

27 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN HURT BY GARCIA LONG BALL!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
For the second straight game Australian evergreen PETER MOYLAN was unable to escape unscathed while pitching a brief relief outing for the Kansas City Royals during their 2-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox today. After taking over for the bottom of the seventh, Pete pitched the line of 0.2ip 2h 1r 1er 0bb 0k (5.79 ERA) while throwing 22 pitches in total. He began well by getting leadoff batter Goevany Soto to fly out to centre field but next batter Leury Garcia battled a full count before clocking a home run over right field. Tim Anderson reached on an infield single to third and Tyler Saladino grounded into a fielder's choice to the short stop before Moylan was lifted in favour of lefty Mike Minor.

Star outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) did not hit safely today, but he did manage to walk twice while batting 0-4 (.233) for the Tampa Bay Rays who came up just short in a 4-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles over eleven innings this morning.

26 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN FINALLY FALLIBLE v WHITE SOX!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Aussie PETE MOYLAN saw his scoreless run from the start of the 2017 season come to a very abrupt and painful end when he was torched to the tune of 0.1ip 5h 5r 5er 0bb 0k (5.19 ERA) while pitching relief for the Kansas City Royals who were swamped 1-12 by the unpredictable Chicago White Sox. The Royals were already 1-4 behind when Pete took the ball for the top of the sixth and the floodgates opened from the time that Avisail Garcia reached on a somewhat fortunate leadoff infield single. After a long at bat Matt Davidson drove him in with a double to shallow right before Moylan got the first out with Geovany Soto grounding out to the short stop. Leury Garcia reached on another infield single, Tim Anderson delivered a RBI single and Tyler Saladino ended Pete's day with a two RBI triple to deep centre. After Pete was given the hook, the last of his base runners was cashed in to add to his woes. It's safe to say that it wasn't his day today!

MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) recorded his third win of the season with 1.2ip 1h 0er 1bb 2k for the Baltimore Orioles to help them to double the Tampa Bay Rays 3-6 at Camden Yards. It improved his season record to a most impressive 3-0, 0.84 ERA. On the flip side, Tampa's KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) had a rare barren day with the bat to strike out three times while batting 0-5 (.260).

24 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN DIES HIS JOB AGAIN FOR ROYALS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Australia's elder statesman PETER MOYLAN claimed a couple of outs this morning with a solid line of 0.2ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (0.00 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who were topped 2-5 by the Texas Rangers. With one out in the bottom of the sixth, Pete was asked to tidy up the frame immediately after Joey Gallo had gone deep for the Rangers. He struck out Robinson Chrinos on a full count before Jurickson Profar was fortunate to reach on a pop up to the short stop. His good fortune didn't last lone when our wily veteran picked off Profar on first to end the inning. It was another case of "job done" for Pete!

Recent ABL infielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) finally came alive with the hitting stick today, batting 2-4 (.173) for the Milwaukee Brewers who still fell 4-6 to the travelling St. Louis Cardinals.

The latest ABL import to ascend to the major leagues, KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014), is still struggling offensively as the left fielder for the Chicago White Sox. He did not deliver a safe hit today, but at least he walked and scored a run as part of their 6-2 home win over the Cleveland Indians.

  23 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS EARNS BIG 3RD HOLD v MARINERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS earned a most valuable hold this morning, his third of the season, after pitching 0.2ip 1h 0r 0er 1bb 0k (8.53 ERA) that helped his Oakland Athletics to hang on for the narrowest of 4-3 wins over the Seattle Mariners. With the leadoff batter aboard and none out in the top of the eighth, Liam was asked to preserve a 4-2 lead at the time and it wasn't all plain sailing for him in a tough situation. Hendriks pitched carefully to the dangerous Nelson Cruz who eventually worked a full count walk to ramp up the threat. He then turned to the pitcher's best friend, a ground ball double play, that he got Tyler Motter to roll to the shortstop for two massive outs. Unfortunately he couldn't shut it down completely when young star Kyle Seager followed with a RBI triple that plated the inherited runner perched on third. It may not have been clean, but that double play may well have kept the A's in front at the pivotal moment.

... and yesterday:

Baltimore Orioles key middle reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) did all that was asked of him today while collecting his first hold of the season as part of the O's 2-0 shutout win over the visiting Boston Red Sox. He pitched a short but sweet 0.1ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k (1.29 ERA).

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-3 (.294) for the Tampa Bay Rays who were bettered 3-6 by the travelling Houston Astros.

19 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN SLICK; SAUPOLD TAKEN DEEP!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Veteran Australian reliever PETE MOYLAN was a model of efficiency today, needing just four pitches, all strikes, to secure the two outs asked of him by the Kansas City Royals in the midst of a deadlocked 0-0 game with the Texas Rangers that rolled on into extra innings. Moylan was summoned into action with one out in the bottom of the eighth and he made short work of putting that inning in the bank with 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (0.00 ERA). With two pitches he got Carlos Gomez to fly out to right and with two more he got Elvis Andrus to pop out to the catcher.

Still in red-hot hitting for is star outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who launched his first home run of the season while batting 2-3 (.292) with two RBIs that helped his Tampa Bay Rays to flog the Detroit Tigers 8-1 this morning. Tigers' right fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) again came up empty with 0-4 (.262) on a rough day for Detroit.
Aussie WARWICK SAUPOLD did the "dirty work" of pitching the last few innings of the loss for Detroit and it came at the price of three home runs that added some padding to the Rays' winning margin. Warwick came into the game with runners on the corners and two out in the bottom of the fifth and his team already 1-5 down. He ended that inning with Jesus Sucre batting and the runner thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. In the bottom of the sixth he quickly got Sucre to fly out to centre field, Peter Bourjos struck out swinging and Steven Souza Jr. struck out looking. Back for the seventh, he was promptly greeted by Kiermaier's long ball over centre field before Evan Longoria flied out to centre and Rickie Weeks was hit by a pitch. There was no further damage in that inning when Brad Miller flied out to left and Tim Beckham flied out to centre. Working into his third inning, Saupold may have been getting low in the gas tank when Daniel Robertson and Steven Souza Jr. both took him deep for solo shots in the bottom of the eighth.

20 APR 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD BACK; LIAM HENDRIKS CLOSES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold
Australia's 32nd major leaguer WARWICK SAUPOLD was back in the big leagues yesterday, pitching a strong 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 2k (0.00 ERA) for the Detroit Tigers at the end of their 1-5 defeat by the Tampa Bay Rays. Taking the mound for the bottom of the eighth, Warwick got Shane Peterson to ground out to the second baseman and had Tim Beckham struck out swinging before the speedy Peter Bourjos milked a walk. Bourjos predictably stole second while former ABL import Kevin Kiermaier was struck out looking to end the frame.

Aussie reliever LIAM HENDRIKS was back on the horse nicely today after some battles lately with a very competent 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (9.53 ERA) while closing out the Oakland Athletics comfortable 9-1 win over the Texas Rangers. Liam shut down the top of the ninth after allowing a leadoff single to Delino DeShields who poked one into right. He followed by getting Rougned Odor to ground out to the first baseman, Elvis Andrus to line out to centre and Joey Gallo to ground out to first. It was a stabilising and confidence boosting effort for Hendriks who has already seen it all before.

Platinum glove outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) was running hot with the stick again today with 3-4 (.274) plus a walk and four runs scored as a key contributor to the Tampa Bay Rays tight 8-7 win over the travelling Detroit Tigers. In the other camp, Tigers' outfielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) struck out twice while batting 0-4 (.289).

19 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN GOOD IN KANSAS CITY LOSS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Resilient Aussie PETER MOYLAN struck out the only batter he was required to face today to register the simple pitching line of 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (0.00 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who ultimately fell in the eleventh inning 1-2 to the visiting San Francisco Giants. Pete played an extremely important role after entering the game in a most precarious position in the top of the seventh with runners at the corners and nobody out in a deadlocked 1-1 game. He got the pivotal second out with Nick Hundley struck out swinging on a 2-2 count as the Royals escaped the jam unscathed.

Converted short stop MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched a tidy 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 1k (1.35 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who stumbled 3-9 against the Cincinnati Reds today.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) laced a RBI double while batting 1-5 (.241) for the Tampa Bay Rays to help them to roll over the Detroit Tigers 5-1. TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 0-3 (.324) for the Tigers.

18 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS TAKES A HIT IN MOP-UP FOR ATHLETICS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australian reliever LIAM HENDRIKS was again asked to do some "mop up duty" in a losing cause today when he pitched an unusually untidy 1.0ip 1h 2r 2er 2bb 1k (11.57 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who were already destined to a 0-7 shutout defeat at the hands (and bats) of the Texas Rangers. As it often does, a leadoff walk issued to Jerickson Profar on a full count led to a rough inning after Liam took over for the top of the ninth. Following another full count pitched to Carlos Gomez, a successive walk perhaps wasn't such a disaster after Profar had moved to second on a wild pitch to leave the open base at first. However, Hendriks didn't get a break when Elvis Andrus advanced both the runners on a soft infield grounder to third for the first out of the frame. This allowed Nomar Mazara to bank both base runners on a RBI single up the middle for the two earned runs. He then polished off the inning with veteran slugger Mike Napoli struck out looking and Rougned Odor grounding out to the first baseman on a pitcher's cover. It's just not going our Aussie's way at the moment!

Star centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) couldn't be blamed for the Tampa Bay Rays' 3-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox today when he batted 2-5 (.245), plus a run scored. It was a similar story for Kiermaier yesterday when he batted 2-3 plus a walk in another 5-7 loss to the Red Sox in Fenway Park.

A solid season so far went awry for San Diego Padres' closer BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) who took his first loss of the season with 0.2ip 3h 1er 1bb 1k as the Atlanta Braves stormed home to win 5-4 at their new SunTrust Park Stadium. Maurer's record fell to 0-1, 5.79 ERA for the 2017 season.

16 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS SCORCHED BY RED HOT HOUSTON ASTROS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Tyler Collins

As we have mentioned often, perhaps too often, the vagaries of baseball scoring these days will sometimes enable relief pitchers to record a "hold" as a positive statistic when their performance would not necessarily be a positive one for them. Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS was credited with a hold today after having a second straight rough outing as his Oakland Athletics were overrun 6-10 by the Houston Astros who hit a hot streak at the end of this game. Liam came to the mound with Oakland still leading 5-2 to begin the top of the seventh and, although it was not his finest hour, he at least managed to help keep the A's noses in front, thus the hold. Japanese outfielder Norichika Aoki started the trouble with a single poked into left, then he stole second base before Jake Marisnick reached on an infield single. Aoki then went to third as George Springer grounded into a fielder's choice to the shortstop. Alex Bregman came through with a RBI single up the middle to cause Hendriks to be lifted. His other earned run was cashed in before the inning concluded to leave the game still in Oakland's favour 5-4. Our man may have been a tad unlucky to come into the game just as the Astros were starting to unleash a barrage of scoring that saw them pile on ten runs over the last four frames!

The latest former ABL import to reach the major leagues,
JACOB MAY (Sydney Blue Sox 2014), is still yet to break his big league batting "duck" with 0-3 (.000) for the Chicago White Sox who were blanked 0-6 by the surprise packet Minnesota Twins this morning.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) did not manage a hit today, but he did walk and score the only run for the Tampa Bay Rays who ran into a buzz saw in the form of star pitcher Chris Sale who struck out twelve Rays in a narrow 2-1 win for his Boston Red Sox. Kiermaier batted 0-2 (.200).

Solid right fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 2-3 (.370) for the Detroit Tigers who were belted 6-13 by the Cleveland Indians.

14 APR 2017 - FORMER SYDNEY BLUE SOX OUTFIELDERS HIT!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Keon Broxton
Right fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-3 (.350) plus a walk for the Detroit Tigers today but it had little impact in a heavy 5-11 defeat by the upstart Minnesota Twins.

Starting centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-4 (.208) to help his Milwaukee Brewers to grab an important 5-1 road win over the Cincinnati Reds.

13 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS BATTLES IN EASY WIN OVER ROYALS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

If you want to put it in context, Australian star LIAM HENDRIKS probably picked a good time to have a rough outing today, if there is ever a good time? With his Oakland Athletics winning comfortably 8-0 coming into the bottom of the eighth, Liam was in "speed-up mode" when he pitched 1.0ip 3h 2r 2er 1bb 0k (5.40 ERA) today in what resulted in a 8-3 victory over the home standing Kansas City Royals.
It started poorly with a four pitch walk issued to Raul Mondesi before he got Alex Gordon to fly out to right field. A barrage of hits followed when Mike Moustakis doubled to right, Lorenzo Cain delivered a fortunate RBI on a softly hit infield single and Eric Hosmer chimed in with another RBI single. Liam then got Drew Butera and Brandon Moss to fly out to end an inning that didn't quite go as planned.

One pitcher who enjoyed a low-pressure outing today during the Baltimore Orioles blowout 12-5 victory over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park today was MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who hurled 2.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (1.59 ERA).

New San Diego Padres closer BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) did his job in a non-save situation today with 1.0ip 0h 0r 0bb 1k (4.50 ERA) at the end of their 6-0 shutout win over the Colorado Rockies.

11 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN STAYS CLEAN IN LOSS TO OAKLAND!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Even the best efforts of seasoned Aussie PETER MOYLAN could not help the Kansas City Royals today when they were shut out 0-2 by the competitive Oakland Athletics. Pete kept his unblemished season record with a very tidy 2.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (0.00 ERA) effort, but there were no runs to be found for his team this morning.

Taking the hill to begin the top of the seventh, he struck out Trevor Plouffe, then he got both Rajai Davis and Marcus Semien to ground out to the third baseman. Having thrown just six pitches, Moylan returned to bank the top of the eighth with Matt Joyce grounding out to second, Ryon Healy flying out to right and Khris Davis grounding out to short.
In all he needed only 17 pitches to secure six outs and he threw twelve of them for strikes.

  10 APR 2017 - KEVIN KIERMAIER REMAINS HOT WITH 3-4 v TOTONTO!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Kevin Kiermaier
Maintaining his hot start to the season is former Platinum Glove centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who batted 3-4, including a triple, to help his Tampa Bay Rays to overrun the Toronto Blue Jays 7-2.

Right fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-5 (.308) as another strong starter to the 2017 season but, in his case, it was not enough to get the Detroit Tigers over the line in a 5-7 loss to the travelling Boston Red Sox.

After a terrific start to the season Baltimore Orioles' reliver MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was one of the villains today with a blown save as the 'O-Birds' bullpen collapsed in a 3-7 loss to the New York Yankees. Givens' line for today was 1.0ip 3h 1er 1bb 0k (2.45 ERA).

Tyler Collins
9 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN STILL CLEAN AGAINST ASTROS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Jacob May

The way he has been used so frequently in the early going this seaon, Australia's PETER MOYLAN may soon be nicknamed "Everyday Pete"! Yes, it is not an uncommon life for a short-inning reliever in the big leagues, but it is good to see the highly competitive veteran still being called upon in the "high leverage situations".
It wasn't such a knife-edge situation today with his Kansas City Royals leading the Houston Astros handily 7-2 when he took over the bump to pitch the bottom of the eighth. He kept the game moving with an economy of fuss by getting Alex Bregman to fly out to right field, All Star Jose Altuve to ground out to short and Carlos Correa to fly out to centre. With seven of just eleven pitches thrown for strikes, Pete's line for the game was 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (0.00 ERA) and the Royals went on to win the game 7-3.

Very reliable reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) notched his first win of the 2017 season this morning with a tidy 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 2k (0.00 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who sneaked past the New York Yankees 5-4.

Another new former ABL import to make his big league debut in the early part of this 2017 season is former smooth moving Sydney Blue Sox outfielder from the 2014 season JACOB MAY (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) who is settling in at centre field with the Chicago White Sox. May is still yet to register his first major league hit, but we could wait no longer to mention him after his fourth appearance today. He batted 0-2 (.000), but he did milk a walk in the 'Chisox' 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins. May has contributed by driving in a couple of runs so far this year.

8 APR 2017 - PETER MOYLAN HOLDS OUT HOUSTON!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Brandon Maurer

Australia's PETER MOYLAN collected his first hold of the 2017 season with a solid 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 2k (0.00 ERA) that contributed to the Kansas City Royals 5-1 win over the Houston Astros today. Pete entered the game at a critical time in the bottom of the seventh just after Carlos Beltran had doubled in a run to narrow the lead to 2-1 and he was perched in scoring position with nobody out. Moylan struck out the dangerous Evan Gattis on three pitches and then he punched out Josh Reddick swinging on a full count. After walking Marwin Gonzalez Pete was relieved, but not before he got the two key outs at a vita time for his ballclub.

Former ABL import outfielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) helped the Detroit Tigers to take advantage of a severely depleted Boston Red Sox this morning bay batting 2-3 (.375) as part of their 6-5 comeback win.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) closed out his first save of the season today with a decisive 1.0ip 0h 0r 0bb 2k (0.00 ERA) at the end of a tight 7-6 win for his San Diego Padres over the visiting San Francisco Giants.

Tampa Bay Rays brilliant outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.278) plus a walk to help his team to edge past the Toronto Blue Jays 10-8 this morning.

7 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS ; PETE MOYLAN STRONG!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Tyler Collins

Aussie star LIAM HENDRIKS is obviously keen to impress as ever from the outset of the 2017 season with another very strong outing of 1.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (0.00ERA) that earned him his first hold of the season for the Oakland Athletics who topped the Los Angeles Angels 5-1. Hendriks was called into action with two on and two out in the top of the sixth and he tidied that up by getting Andrelton Simmons to ground into a fielder's choice to the short stop to end the inning. Liam then returned to tuck away the top of the seventh with both Cliff Pennington and Carlos Perez struck out swinging before Yunel Escobar grounded out to short. It was very tidy and decisive performance.

38yo Aussie flag bearer PETER MOYLAN once again did all that he could in a losing cause for his Kansas City Royals who couldn't avoid a 3-5 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Twins today. After consecutive walks to begin the bottom of the sixth, Moylan was summoned to the hill to inherit two on and one out and he quickly got the hard hitting Brian Dozier to line out to left field for the second out. He then "pitched around" Max Kepler with a four pitch free pass to load the bases, but it gave him a favourable match-up with Byron Buxton. The strategy worked perfectly when Pete had Buxton punched out swinging on the minimum three pitches.
Our man kept the game tied at 3-3 with his pitching line of 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 2k (0.00 ERA).

Right fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) supplied half of the scoring for the Detroit Tigers this morning by hammering his first home run of the season during his team's 2-11 pasting by the the division rival Chicago White Sox. His 1-4 (.200) came along with the RBI and the run scored.

Former ABL reliever BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) pitched a clean inning of work today with a no-fuss 1.0ip 0h 0r 0bb 0k (0.00 ERA) while closing out a 2-10 loss for the San Diego Padres to their local rival Los Angeles Dodgers.

6 APR 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS OFF TO A FLYING START!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Aussie reliever LIAM HENDRIKS got his 2017 season off to a most positive start with an impressive line of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (0.00 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who were eventually overrun 6-7 by the Los Angeles Angels who scored three runs in the top of the ninth. Liam took over for the top of the seventh and he kept the game within reach at 2-4 down by supplying a strong 1-2-3 inning. He struck out Danny Espinosa, got Martin Maldonado to ground out to second and then struck out Yunel Escobar. He had done all he could in what turned out to be a tough loss for Oakland.

Star outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) continues his strong start to the 2017 season today by batting 1-4 (.364) to help the Tampa Bay Rays to take a three-game series from the visiting New York Yankees with a 4-1 win in the rubber game. Yesterday he also batted 1-4 in the Ray's 0-5 shutout loss to the Yanks.

4 APR 2017 - PETE MOYLAN DOES HIS JOB FOR ROYALS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN struck out the only batter he was asked to handle today during his Kansas City Royals 1-7 loss on the road to the Minnesota Twins. Pete entered the game with the bases loaded following consecutive walks and with only one out in the bottom of the seventh inning and he did his job perfectly by fanning the free swinging Byron Buxton on a 2-2 count.
His effort of 0.1ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (0.00 ERA) counted for little when he was replaced by Travis Wood who proceeded to walk the next two batters as the game got completely out of hand for the Royals.

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 0-3 for the Milwaukee Brewers in their opening game of the season, but he did manage one walk during their 5-7 home defeat at the hands of the travelling Colorado Rockies.

Converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) started his 2017 season solidly by pitching an effective 1.2ip 2h 0er 0bb 2k (0.00 ERA) in middle relief for the Baltimore Orioles who edged the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2. His team mate JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) came of the bench to bat 0-1 while taking over at left field.

Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Kevin Kiermaier
Rated by his manager, Kevin Cash, before the game as the best all-round defender in baseball, Tampa Bay Rays' centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) got off to a flying start in the 2017 season.

On opening day Kiermaier just about did it all for the Rays to help them to run away for a 7-3 win over their division rival New York Yankees. Aside from his defence, he batted 2-3 (.667) including a double, walked twice and stole a base.

It will obviously be a hard standard for him to maintain.
