31 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN VERY STRONG LATELY FOR KC!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Seasoned Aussie PETER MOYLAN neatly collected his eighth hold of the 2017 season today with an impressive 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (7.85 ERA) to help his Kansas City Royals to win a skin tight 1-0 shutout over the Detroit Tigers. To polish off the top of the seventh, Pete struck out both heavy hitters J.D Matinez and Juston Upton with just the minimum three pitches each.
Yesterday Moylan did exactly what his Kansas City Royals wanted from him, yet they were still overrun at home 7-10 by the offensive power of the visiting Tigers. With one on and one out in the top of the seventh, Pete came to the mound and immediately delivered an inning ending double play with J.D Martinez grounding sharply to the short stop. With just two pitches, Pete finished with the line of 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k in the eventual losing cause.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) nailed his fifth home run of the season as part of his 2-4 (.248) effort with the RBI that was not quite enough for his Tampa Bay Rays who were outscored 5-9 by the Texas Rangers.

30 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS PUNCHES OUT THREE INDIANS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's star right hander LIAM HENDRIKS was very sharp and most impressive today to escape the artillery that saw six home runs leave the park at Progressive Field in Cleveland today.
Liam pitched a sturdy 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 3k (3.38 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who were outslugged 3-5 by the Cleveland Indians on the road. Called to arms for the bottom of the eighth, Hendriks was greeted by a leadoff single from Jose Ramirez who singled up the middle. If there was any concern about that, he made a mockery of it by striking out Yan Gomes, Bradley Zimmer and Austin Jackson in a startling sequence. It wasn't his fault that the A's didn't quite score enough runs.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) notched his seventh save of the season with a tidy 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (6.00 ERA) for the San Diego Padres who held off the World Champion Chicago Cubs 5-2 this morning.

Helping the slumping Baltimore Orioles to topple the New York Yankees 3-2 today was leadoff batter JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) who batted 1-3 (.250) plus a walk. Yankees short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.309).

29 MAY 2017 - WARWICK SAUPOLD BACK IN MAJOR LEAGUE BUSINESS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Warwick Saupold

Keon Broxton

Australia's WARWICK SAUPOLD made a strong return to the US major leagues over the weekend, capped by his latest most impressive performance of 2.0ip 2h 0r 0er 1bb 2k (3.52 ERA) today for the Detroit Tigers who still fell short 3-7 to their division rival Chicago White Sox. Taking over the hill for the bottom of the sixth, Warwick had Yolmer Sanchez fly out to left ahead of Omar Narvaez and Willy Garcia who were both punched out. Back for the bottom of the seventh, Saupold faced a threat when Leury Garcia and Melky Cabrerea both singled to lead off the frame. He then fanned Jose Abreu for the first out before issuing an intentional walk to former Home Run Derby King Todd Frazier. The ploy was successful when Saupold got Matt Davidson struck out swinging and Tim Anderson lining out to first to end the inning.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.311) with a run scored as part of the New York Yankees 9-5 win over the Oakland Athletics today.

Batting in the leadoff role today, Milwaukee Brewers centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) rifled a triple while batting 1-4 (.261) with two runs scored to help the 'Brew Crew' to roll over the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-5.

With plenty of plate appearances in a 15-inning epic this morning, centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 3-8 (.247) to help his Tampa Bay Rays to outlast the Minnesota Twins 8-6.

JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted 1-4 (.246) for the Baltimore Orioles who were doubled 4-8 by the in-form Houston Astros.

25 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS & PETER MOYLAN BOTH VERY EFFECTIVE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Didi Gregorius

Brandon Maurer

Aussie major league ace LIAM HENDRIKS did his job effectively once again, but on this occasion his very tidy 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (3.54 ERA) in middle relief was unable to prevent his Oakland Athletics from dropping the game 9-11 to the visiting Miami Marlins. Liam did his level best to keep the A's in the game in the top of the eighth by striking out speedy leadoff batter Dee Gordon importantly ahead of Giancarlo Stanton's single to right field. Pitching to the heart of the Marlins' lineup, he polished off the inning with Christian Yelich flying out to left and Marcell Ozuna struck out swinging at fresh air. Clearly he was entrusted with the task of subduing the cream of Miami's batting.

Fellow Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN was also very effective today with 1.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (8.82 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals at the end of their 0-3 shutout defeat by the New York Yankees. First Pete was asked to get the final out in the bottom of the seventh which he achieved by getting Matt Holliday to ground out to third with one runner aboard. Moylan then took good care of the eighth inning with Starlin Castro struck out swinging, Aaron Judge grounding out to first and Aaron Hicks grounding out to the shortstop. In all he threw eleven of 13 pitches for strikes in a very impressive outing. In this game DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) homered for the third time this season while batting 2-3 (.330) with the RBI and two runs scored as a key contributor for the 'Bronx Bombers'. Yesterday the star short stop Gregorius clocked his second long ball of the season while batting 2-3 with two RBIs that certainly helped the Yankees to top the Royals 4-1 at New Yankee Stadium.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) "went yard" for the fifth time this season today while batting 1-3 (.271) for the Milwaukee Brewers who were still doubled 4-8 by the Toronto Blue Jays.

San Diego Padres closer BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) unusually pitched the eighth inning today to collect his first hold of the season with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (6.50 ERA) in their 6-5 win over the New York Mets.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-3 (.228) plus a run batted in to help the Tampa Bay Rays to roll over the Los Angeles Angels 5-2.

22 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN HOLDS SIXTH FOR KANSAS CITY!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Aussie PETER MOYLAN's sixth hold of the season came at the cost of one run for one out when he pitched a brief 0.1ip 1h 1r 1er 0bb 1k (9.60 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who beat the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on the road at Target Field. Coming on to begin the bottom of the seventh inning, Pete had Byron Buxton struck out swinging on a 2-2 count before Brian Dozier rifled a single to left field to see him replaced on the hill. Our man was saddled with the run when Dozier came in to score later in the inning.

New York Yankees short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was "perfect" with the bat today, batting 4-4 (.322) with a RBI and a run scored as a big part of their 3-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 0-3 (.231) for the Rays.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted a strong 2-5 (>270) plus a run batted in for the Milwaukee Brewers who were thumped 6-13 by the World Champion Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field today.

21 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS BAFFLES BOSTON AGAIN!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
For the second straight day, Australia's 31st major leaguer LIAM HENDRIKS pitched an important clean inning of relief for the Oakland Athletics who outlasted the visiting Boston Red Sox 3-2 after ten innings.
With 11 of 15 pitches thrown for strikes Liam posted a polished 1.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.72 ERA) in the top of the eighth. He got Xander Bogaerts to pop out to the second baseman and Andrew Benintendi struck out swinging for two outs before Hanley Ramirez poked a single into left field. Ramirez got no further than first base when Mitch Moreland grounded out to first to end the tidy inning.

Baltimore Orioles' middle relief specialist MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012)was certainly a bit fortunate to claim his fifth win of the season today, while also recording his third blown save with 0.2ip 1h 1er 0bb 1k (3.47 ERA) as part of their 7-5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 2-5 (.235) with a RBI and a run scored out of the #2 slot for the Tampa Bay Rays who rolled over the New York Yankees 9-5 today. Short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) is cooling off for the Yanks with 0-4 (.289) in the same game.

19 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HALTS BOSTON RED SOX!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's 'Mr. Efficiency' LIAM HENDRIKS was at his most miserly best today with a very proficient inning of middle relief for the Oakland Athletics during their 8-3 romp over the travelling Boston Red Sox.
Relieving A's starter Sonny Gray for the top of the seventh, Hendriks required just twelve pitches, nine thrown for strikes, to tuck away a polished 1-2-3 frame for the line of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.93 ERA).
In quick sequence he got Jackie Bradley Jr. to fly out to left , Christian Vasquez to ground out to short and then had Deven Marrero struck out swinging with three pitches. It was terrific stuff!

After his two home run game yesterday, the Baltimore Orioles did not challenge TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) who walked twice today while batting 0-2 (.233) for the Detroit Tigers who prevailed narrowly 6-5 at Comerica Park.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 2-4 (.266) this morning to help the Milwaukee Brewers to double the home standing San Diego Padres 4-2.

Short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-3 (.320) with a walk and a run batted in for the New York Yankees who fell to the Kansas City Royals 1-5 today.

18 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN POUNDED BY POTENT YANKEES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Kevin Kiermaier

Veteran Aussie PETER MOYLAN felt the brunt of an in-form New York Yankees' offence today when he was thrust into the eye of a storm by the Kansas City Royals who were already well on the way to a 7-11 defeat at the hands of 'The Evil Empire'. Pete's unflattering line of 1.0ip 4h 4r 4er 2bb 0k (9.20 ERA) came when he was summoned to pitch the fifth inning of a game that the Royals were already losing 2-6 after a big fourth inning. In the top of the fifth, Moylan was immediately in trouble when Starlin Castro reached on an infield single and giant slugger Aaron Judge walked. Chase Headley singled to shallow left to drive in a run, DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) drove in another with a single up the middle and Aaron Hicks walked, still with nobody out. Chris Carter made the first out by grounding into a fielder's choice to the short stop, but he kept the line moving with another run crossing the plate. The second out also came at a cost when Brett Gardner lifted a sacrifice fly to left and the inning ended with a tag out at home plate after Gary Sanchez had singled into left. It's fair to say that "pitching to contact" didn't bring much luck for big Pete on this occasion! Gregorius batted 2-5 (.319) with two RBIs and two runs scored for New York.

Detroit Tigers centrefielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) had a massive day with the stick today when he batted 3-4 (.238), including his third and fourth home runs of the season. Obviously his two long balls and four runs batted in were a major contribution to the Tigers narrow 5-4 win over the visiting Baltimore Orioles.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-5 (.229) for the Tampa Bay Rays to help them to beat the Cleveland Indians 7-4 on the road at Progressive Field.

16 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS FORCED TO TOIL IN SEATTLE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's major league reliever LIAM HENDRIKS was forced to toil after his outing began with a defensive error today near the end of his Oakland Athletics tough 5-6 loss to the feisty Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field. The typically efficient Aussie laboured on this occasion with 1.0ip 2h 2r 1er 1bb 2k (4.15 ERA).
After taking over the hill for the bottom of the eighth, Liam was immediately put under the pump when leadoff batter Guillermo Heredia reached on a throwing error by the short stop before he got the heavy hitting Nelson Cruz to fly out to the centrefielder for the first out. Young tyro Kyle Seager then pounced upon a strike from our man to rope a home run over centrefield for a two-run bomb that should have been one.
Liam followed by fanning Danny Valencia on three pitches before Tyler Motter knocked his next pitch up the middle for a single. Motter stole second top open first base, but it was soon occupied when Ben Gamel worked a full count walk. Hendriks averted further damage by punching out Tuffy Gosewisch to end a rough inning.

Star defensive outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) clocked his third home run of the season today while batting a near perfect 2-2 (.236) with a walk, a run batted in and two runs scored for the Tampa Bay Rays who battled back hard in a 7-8 defeat by the Cleveland Indians.

Our latest former AMLB import to reach the major leagues, MICHAEL OHLMAN (Perth Heat 2013), was given another start behind the dish today for the Toronto Blue Jays and he delivered 1-4 (.143) plus a RBI while batting in the #8 slot during their 6-10 loss to the visiting Atlanta Braves.

15 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN BATTLES TO HOLD ORIOLES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Kevin Kiermaier

Evergreen Aussie PETER MOYLAN wasn't completely clean today, but he still did enough to record his fifth hold with 0.2ip 1h 0r 0er 1bb 0k (.7.24 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who squeaked past the Baltimore Orioles in a tight one 9-8. Pete was called upon with two runners aboard and one out in the top of the seventh and the bags were soon juiced when Trey Mancini singled into left field. An inherited runner then scored on a JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) force out to the second baseman. The bases were again full of Orioles when Ryan Flaherty milked a walk but Moylan, very importantly, avoided further damage by getting Caleb Joseph to ground into a force out to the third baseman to end the inning. Starting centre fielder Rickard batted a handy 1-5 (.235) for Baltimore with a run batted in and two runs scored. Also pitching relief in the losing cause for Baltimore was MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who contributed 1.2ip 1h 1r 1er 0bb 1k (2.18 ERA).

In-form centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) wet yard for the fourth time this season to hit 1-4 (.270) with two runs driven in for the Milwaukee Brewers who scored ten runs over their last three batting innings to overrun the New York Mets 11-9 in a wild one.

Finishing off a productive series in Boston was centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who batted 2-4 (.226) with a double, a RBI, two runs scored and a sacrifice bunt that all helped the Tampa Bay Rays to take the rubber match 11-2 over the home standing Boston Red Sox.

San Diego Padres closer BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) was saddled with a blown save today following a nasty line of 0.1ip 2h 3er 1bb 0k (6.00 ERA) at the bitter end of their 3-9 loss to the Chicago White Sox who piled on eight runs in the eighth inning to snatch the game away.

14 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS TAKES TOUGH LOSS FOR OAKLAND!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Aussie reliever LIAM HENDRIKS was tagged for a run and a blown save today following a run of terrific scoreless outings recently. With eight of 13 pitches thrown for strikes, Liam pitched 0.2ip 2h 1r 1er 0bb 0k (3.86 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who fell 5-6 the Texas Rangers at Arlington. With one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Liam was summoned in the maelstrom of a Texas rally that saw them overturn a 2-4 deficit at the time. Unfortunately, Hendriks wasn't able to preserve the lead when Elvis Andrus poked a two RBI single to left and Nomar Mazzara slapped a two RBI double to deep left centre. He then got Robinson Chrinos to ground into a fielder's choice to the short stop and Rougned Odor to foul out to the third baseman to end the inning. It was a tough situation and it just wasn't his day today!

More noted for his glove and athleticism in centrefield, KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) also carries a streaky bat and that was on display again this morning when he blasted his second home run of the season while batting 1-3 (.218) with two RBIs for the Tampa Bay Rays who were doubled 3-6 by the Boston Red Sox. His long ball came off none other than Boston's megastar starter Chris Sale who struck out double-digit batters for the seventh straight outing. You could say that he did all that he could for the losing team.

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 2-5 (.271) with a walk, a RBI and a run scored to help the Milwaukee Brewers to swamp the New York Mets 11-5 today.

13 MAY 2017 - ABL IMPORT MICHAEL OHLMAN MAKES ML DEBUT THIS WEEK!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Michael Ohlman
As an import player, we were waiting (and hoping) for him to record a positive statistic before mentioning that former ABL star MICHAL OHLMAN (Perth Heat 2013) became the latest AMLB alumni to reach the major leagues. Earlier this week Ohlman made his debut as starting catcher and #9 hole hitter for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 0-6 shutout loss to the travelling Cleveland Indians. Unfortunately he went 0-3 (.000) on debut but, hopefully, he will get another opportunity in "The Show" at some time in the future.

in today's MLB action:

MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched another strong inning of relief with 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 0k (1.89 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who were narrowly beaten 2-3 by the Kansas City Royals.

Recent Platinum Glove outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 2-4 (.216) as a good contributor to the Tampa Bay Rays who held off the home standing Boston Red Sox 5-4 at Fenway Park.

San Diego Padres closer BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) recorded his fifth save of the season today by pitching 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (4.30 ERA) in the ninth inning of their 6-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

11 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS; PETER MOYLAN MAULED!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Mychal Givens

Continuing his terrific sequence of strong outings was Aussie ace LIAM HENDRIKS who recorded his fourth hold of the season today with 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.45 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics who rolled over the Los Angeles Angels 3-1. Once again it was rapid-fire work for Liam who likes to pitch with a quick tempo and he didn't muck around with seven of nine pitches thrown for strikes. In short order he got Andrelton Simmons to ground out to short, struck out Danny Espinosa and then got Juan Graterol to line out to the second baseman. His confidence must be soaring at present.

Seasoned Aussie PETER MOYLAN was handed the poisoned chalice this morning when he was asked to pitch at the end of the Kansas City Royals blowout 1-12 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. The result was the ugly line of 1.0ip 3h 5r 5er 2bb 1k (7.62 ERA) as he took one for the team in a no-win situation. Taking over for the bottom of the eighth with his team already 1-7 down, it started well for him when he got Derek Norris to ground out to the shortstop. The pressure began to mount when Corey Dickerson and Brad miller both singled, yet Moylan still moved to within one out away from getting out of the inning when he got pinch Daniel Robertson to ground out to the first baseman for a pitcher's cover. With first base open, Pete elected to issue an intentional walk to the dangerous Logan Morrison, but the strategy came undone on this occasion when Rickie Weeks Jr. milked a walk to push across a run. Worse was to follow when Colby Rasmus launched a grand slam home run over left field for four big RBIs. He finally struck out Tim Beckham to end the inning after too much damage had already been done. Star outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.211) for Tampa Bay.

Converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) collected his seventh hold of the season with 1.0ip 2h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (2.00 ERA) but it eventually came in a losing cause when the Washington Nationals piled on five runs over the last two frames to edge past his Baltimore Orioles 7-6.

10 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN FINE; KEON BROXTON HOMERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
PETER MOYLAN got the only out asked of him today while pitching 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.50 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who outlasted the Tampa Bay Rays 7-6 after 12 innings today. Pete came into the game to face the leadoff hitter in the bottom of the seventh and he promptly got Rickie Weeks Jr. to ground out to the second baseman with his second pitch. He was then lifted in favour of lefty Mike Minor.
In the same game KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-3 (.209) with a RBI and two walks as the #8 hole hitter for the defeated Rays.

Recent ABL import KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) may have had a slow offensive start to the season, but he has really hit a "purple patch" lately and he was red-hot today for the Milwaukee Brewers with 3-3 (.258) with four RBIs, including his second home run of the season, to really help the 'Brew Crew' to ambush the visiting Boston Red Sox 11-7 at Miller Park today.

9 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS EARNS BIG EXTRA INNING WIN v ANGELS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Didi Gregorius

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS was very much the man for the moment when he played a pivotal role in making sure that his Oakland Athletics were able to outlast the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 at Oakland Coliseum.
Liam really earned his first win of the season in an ultra-high leverage situation when he was asked to pitch into extra innings in a game that was deadlocked 2-2 after nine tense frames. He rolled through the top of the tenth in quick-fire fashion with Yunel Escobar grounding out to short, Kole Calhoun lining out to centre and Albert Pujols lining out to centre al on just ten pitches. After that efficient effort, Hendriks was able to return for the eleventh which started with the leadoff batter aboard when Luis Valbuena singled up the middle to be replaced by a pinch runner. With the running game clearly in mind, the athletic Aussie thwarted Danny Espinosa's attempted sacrifice bunt when he caught the pop up himself. The Angels then caught a break when Cameron Maybin grounded into a fielder's choice to the third baseman but the lead runner reached safely on an error. Liam then got Ben Revere to ground into another fielder's choice ahead of Cliff Pennington flying out to left field to end the inning with a runner left on third. The richly deserved win fell into Hendriks' hands when team mate Jed Lowrie smacked a game winning walk off homer in the bottom of the eleventh.
His important line of 2.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k improved his season record to 1-0, 3.68 ERA.

Not exactly noted for his long ball power, Baltimore Orioles' outfielder and today's leadoff batter JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) clocked his first home run of the season while batting 1-5 (.275) with two RBIs that helped his team to beat the Washington Nationals 6-4.

Starting short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.273) plus a run batted in for the in-form New York Yankees who rolled over the Cincinnati Reds 10-4 on the road.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.206) with a run scored as centre fielder for the Tampa Bay Rays during their 3-7 loss to the Kansas City Royals.

6 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS FANS TWO DETROIT TIGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's major league star LIAM HENDRIKS is enjoying a very positive patch of form lately and he continued that today by striking out the only two hitters he was asked to face by the Oakland Athletics who were overrun 2-7 by the visiting Detroit Tigers at Oakland Coliseum. Liam was summoned to the hill in the top of the sixth immediately after the Tigers had delivered a one out, bases clearing, three RBI triple. With the runner still camped on third, Hendriks struck out both James McCann and Jose Iglesias but, unfortunately for him and the A's, much of the damage had already been done.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.321) as a small contribution to the New York Yankees 3-2 win over the World Champion Chicago Cubs at fabled Wrigley Field.

Doing all he could after being inserted as a defensive replacement at left field for the Baltimore Orioles was JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) who batted 1-1 (.241) with a RBI to help them to get past the Chicago White Sox 4-2.

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-4 (.235) for the Milwaukee Brewers who were blanked 0-4 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

5 MAY 2017 - KEON BROXTON HOMERS WHILE BATTING 4-5 FOR BREWERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Joey Rickard
Former ABL import KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) had a breakout day after a sluggish start to the 2017 season by batting a mammoth 4-5 (.234) with two RBIs that included his second home run of the current season. No doubt he provided a major contribution to the Milwaukee Brewers narrow 5-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium today.

Converted ABL short stop MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched a brief 0.1ip 1h 0er 1bb 0k (1.23 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who squared their away series with the Boston Red Sox with a 8-3 victory at Fenway today. His team mate JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted 0-1, but he did may a key contribution after entering the game as a defensive replacement at left field with a tough outfield catch that thwarted a bases loaded rally for the Sox.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) pitched a tidy 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (2.19 ERA) while throwing eight of nine pitches for strikes in the ninth inning for the San Diego Padres who eventually fell 2-3 to the visiting Colorado Rockies.

Star outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-3 (.212) with a walk and a RBI for the Tampa Bay Rays who beat the Miami Marlins 5-1 in interleague play.

Aussie right hander LIAM HENDRIKS had another very positive outing today for the Oakland Athletics, even though his team were rolled 4-7 by the home standing Minnesota Twins. Pitching against his original team in his former home ballpark, Liam would have enjoyed a most effective 1.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (5.06 ERA) effort after being called to action earlier than he might have expected. When starter Kevin Graveman was chased from the hill during the fourth inning, Hendriks inherited a runner on third and one out but, although the runner scored on the play, he responded to the pressure by getting Max Kepler to ground out to short before he struck out Miguel Sano. He then produced a clinical 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the fifth with Joe Maurer grounding out to short, Kennys Vargas lining out to right and Jason Castro struck out looking on a full count.

Fellow Australian reliever PETER MOYLAN also pitched a crystal clear inning with 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.63 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals to help them to top the Chicago White Sox 6-1 today. Taking the mound for the top of the seventh, big Pete got Todd Frazier to ground out to short, Avisail Garcia to ground out to third and Leury Garcia to ground out to the first baseman. As often the side-winder made a great friend of the ground ball while throwing nine of twelve pitches for strikes.

Leadoff batter and starting right fielder JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) did pretty much all he could for the Baltimore Orioles today with 2-5 (.222) but it was not enough for them to avoid a 2-4 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-5 (.200) with two RBIs for the Tampa Bay Rays who fell to their in-state rival Miami Marlins 6-10.

2 MAY 2017 - PETER MOYLAN EFFICIENT; TYLER COLLINS HOMERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Experienced Australian reliever PETER MOYLAN was back to his efficient best today with a very impressive inning of work as a setup guy for the Kansas City Royals who rolled the Chicago White Sox 6-1 at Kauffman Stadium. Entrusted with the seventh inning, Pete struck out recent ABL import JACOB MAY (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) for his first victim before getting Tyler Saladino to ground out to second and then fanning Tim Anderson to end the inning. His 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (5.06 ERA) performance was an emphatic one with seven of eleven pitches thrown for strikes as he pocketed his third hold of the season. Jacob May batted 1-4 (.056) with a RBI as the starting right fielder and #9 hole hitter for the White Sox.

Detroit Tigers centre fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) launched his second long ball of the 2017 season while batting a most productive 2-4 (.304) with three RBIs and two runs scored during their 7-1 victory over their division rival Cleveland Indians.

1 MAY 2017 - LIAM HENDRIKS EFFICIENT; PETE MOYLAN HIT!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Aussie ace LIAM HENDRIKS was pitching like a man in a hurry today when he needed only nine pitches and five strikes to put away his tidy inning of work for the Oakland Athletics who fell 2-7 to the Houston Astros this morning. Hendriks took the ball for the bottom of the seventh and he made short work of George Springer who grounded his first pitch to the second baseman before Josh Reddick lined out to right and Jose Altuve struck out swinging. It was a breezy 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (6.00 ERA) for the 'Wanneroo Wrecker' today.

Australia's elder statesman PETER MOYLAN did not record an out today when he pitched 0.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (5.59 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who were edged 5-7 by the Minnesota Twins. With a runner on second and two out in the top of the sixth, Pete threw two balls to Miguel Sano who poked a RBI single to right from his third pitch. That was all for Moylan on this occasion.

Converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was strong again to claim his fifth hold of the season with 2.0ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (1.29 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who toppled the New York Yankees 7-4 today. His team mate JOEY RICKARD (Brisbane Bandits 2014) batted a valuable 2-6 (.222) and he scored a run for the O's. On the losing end was DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) who is on fire offensively for the 'Bronx Bombers' with another 3-6 (.467) plus two RBIs in the losing cause.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-4 (.292) for the Detroit Tigers who rolled over the Chicago White Sox 7-3 today. JACOB MAY (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) continues to struggle offensively for the 'Chisox' with 0-2 (.031) while striking out twice after taking over as a defensive replacement at right field.

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 1-3 (.191) while also striking out twice for the Milwaukee Brewers who squeaked past the Atlanta Braves 4-3.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) did his job today with a solid relief effort of 1.2ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (2.61 ERA) for the San Diego Padres to help them to fend of the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on the road.
