30 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS HELPS TO TAME THE TIGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Kevin Kiermaier

Aussie LIAM HENDRIKS bounced back quickly from a "hiccup" last outing to produce a far more typically efficient 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 2k (2.67 ERA) for the Toronto Blue Jays who pummelled the scuffling Detroit Tigers 15-1 today. Liam wasn't under much pressure when he relieved to start the top of the eighth, but it didn't start brilliantly when Anthony Gose worked a full count leadoff walk from a 0-2 count. It proved to be of little consequence when he got Andrew Romine to ground into a fielder's choice before punching out the highly dangerous and experienced pair of Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez who both whiffed.

Still riding a current hot streak is KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who batted 2-4 (.261) with two RBIs that came via his sixth home run of the season. However, his effort was not enough to prevent the Rays from losing 3-6 to the Kansas City Royals.

Fellow ABL imprt outfielder BRANDON BARNES (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) also batted 2-4 (.261) for the Colorado Rockies who were edged 3-4 by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.260) with a RBI that helped the New York Yankees to roll over the Atlanta Braves 3-1 today. Yesterday, Gregorius had probably the best offensive game of his career with 4-5 and six huge RBIs, including his seventh long ball of the season, that helped the 'Bronx Bombers' to blitz the Braves 15-4.

Somehow managing to tip-toe around three hits today was MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who didn't suffer any statistical damage with 1.0ip 3h 0er 0bb 0k (1.17 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who lost narrowly to the Texas Rangers 4-3.

28 AUG 2015 - TOUGH DAY FOR LIAM HENDRIKS v RANGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS has enjoyed a very good season as a reliever with the Toronto Blue Jays but, as all pitchers and baseball people know, it can all go pear-shaped on any given day. Unfortunately Liam was knocked around today with a lack of assistance from those "Baseball Gods" who conspired to make things harder for him with mis-read "adventures" in the outfield and infield "choppers" that bounce over the short stop's head, just for example. In the end he was left to bemoan the unflattering pitching line of 1.0ip 6h 3er 0bb 0k (2.72 ERA) as the Jays fell 1-4 to the dangerous Texas Rangers. We'll spare all Aussie baseball followers the play-by-play from the bottom of the seventh but, although he loaded the bases to cop the three earned runs, all three of those runs scored on an error by the right fielder. Baseball can be a very unforgiving game at times!

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) is again enjoying a nice patch of hitting with 2-2 (.261) plus a walk to help the Tampa Bay Rays to a narrow 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins.

26 AUG 2015 - PETE MOYLAN & LIAM HENDRIKS BOTH RELIEVE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Kevin Kiermaier

Continuing his quite remarkable comeback to big league baseball, Australia's PETER MOYLAN produced a scoreless inning of relief for the Atlanta Braves in their 1-5 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Pitching the top of the eighth, Pete promptly dismissed Ben Paulsen who grounded out to the second baseman and Nick Hundley who was called out on strikes after just three pitches. Matt McBride clunked a two out single up the middle but he advanced no further when Kyle Parker grounded out to the short stop. It gave him the pitching line of 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (2.70 ERA).

Countryman LIAM HENDRIKS made somewhat hard work of getting one out with his 0.1ip 1h 0er 1bb 1k (2.25 ERA) for the Toronto Blue Jays who went on to outlast the Texas Rangers 6-5. It started positively when Liam took over for the bottom of the seventh when he got leadoff man Bobby Wilson struck out looking, but that proved to be the only victim he claimed. Pinch hitter Will Venable milked a full count walk before Delino DeShields poked a 0-2 pitch back up the middle to chase Hendriks from the mound in favour of a "lefty v lefty" match-up. The minor wobble came at no expense to his ERA.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-5 (.264) for the Detroit Tigers who lost a close one 7-8 to the Los Angeles Angels.

Bringing his trademark "high energy game" once again was centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who batted 3-5 (.255), stole two bases and drove in a run for the Tampa Bay Rays who fell 7-11 to the Minnesota Twins.

MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was solid again in relief for the Baltimore Orioles with 1.2ip 0h 0er 1bb 1k (1.26 ERA) during their 2-3 defeat by the Kansas City Royals.

25 AUG 2015 - JAMES BERESFORD & TRAVIS BLACKLEY STARRING AT 'AAA'!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

James Beresford

Matt Kennelly
Well into the "Dog Days of August" we must admire the persistent dedication of Aussie infielder JAMES BERESFORD who has been nothing short of brilliant this season with Minnesota's 'AAA' Rochester Red Wings. As he has done several times this season, Beresford is currently in the midst of a seven game hitting streak with 11-28 (.393) since 16 August. James has obviously feasted on the tough pitching of the New York Yankees affiliate Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and Toronto's Buffalo Bisons. James has been on the cusp of cracking a richly deserved major league debut for some years now and, surely, that opportunity must be on the horizon. Few Australian baseballers have deserved it more!

In his last outing Australia's former major league lefty TRAVIS BLACKLEY turned on the style for Miami's 'AAA' New Orleans Zephyrs with a superb pitching line of 7.0ip 3h 1er 0bb 8k when he mowed down San Francisco's Sacramento River Cats.

Although he is not hitting with the same frequency as Beresford, Aussie MATT KENNELLY is also riding the crest of a seven game hitting streak for Atlanta's 'AA' Mississippi Braves.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-3 (.253) for the New York Yankees during their nail-biting 1-0 win over the Houston Astros.

Evergreen catcher DAVID ROSS (MLB All-Stars 2001) batted 1-3 (.190) as the long-time "battery mate" of Jon Lester in the Chicago Cubs 2-1 win over the Cleveland Indians.

BRANDON BARNES (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) made a good contribution after taking over as a defensive replacement at right field for the Colorado Rockies in thewir 3-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. He batted 1-2 (.251) and he drove in a run.

24 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS STILL STRONG FOR TORONTO!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Mychal Givens

LIAM HENDRIKS continues to do his job with aplomb as a relief pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 15-3 thrashing of the Los Angeles Angels. In this game Liam didn't face a lot of pressure in the bottom of the eighth with his team already holding the same advantage with the final score already on the board. He got David DeJesus to line out to the second baseman ahead of Chris Iannetta's one out infield single to the short stop. There was no drama to unfold when 'The Flyin' Hawaiian' Shane Victorino popped out to the second baseman and David Murphy grounded out to the first baseman. His final pitching line was 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 0k (2.26 ERA).

Left fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 2-4 (.277) as he continues to provide solid offence for the Detroit Tigers who fell 2-4 to the rising Texas Rangers.

Former ABL infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) appears capable of forging a good career as a reliever as he maintains a highly effective 1.42 ERA in his rookie major league season. He pitched another very useful 2.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 3k for the Baltimore Orioles who were edged 3-4 by the surging Minnesota Twins.

Even when he is used off the bench as a pinch runner, KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) still manages to make an impact with 1-1 (.251) and a run scored for the Tampa Bay Rays during their 2-8 hammering at the hands of the Oakland Athletics.

23 AUG 2015 - PETE MOYLAN USED SPARINGLY v CUBBIES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
In the customary role of a specialist reliever, Australia's PETER MOYLAN was asked to get just one out today, which he did by throwing three strikes. It happened immediately after the Chicago Cubs had loomed within a run of his Atlanta Braves with a runner in scoring position and two out in the bottom of the fifth. The Cubs were rallying with back-to-back RBI doubles when Pete was asked to douse the fire by getting the dangerous Jorge Soler to foul out to the first baseman to end the inning. His 0.1ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k (3.86 ERA) preserved the Braves 7-6 lead at the time, but they were finally overrun 9-7 in the end. Yesterday Moylan was deprived of getting an out when the one batter he faced, Starlin Castro, reached safely due to a defensive error by his infield in the seventh inning of the Braves' 3-5 loss to the 'Cubbies'.

MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched another impressive inning of relief with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 2k (1.69 ERA) at the end of the Baltimore Orioles' 3-4 defeat by the Minnesota Twins.

Short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 2-4 (.254) and he scored a run as a valuable contribution for the New York Yankees who comfortably beat the Cleveland Indians 6-2.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.251) as the starting centre fielder for the Tampa Bay Rays who edged the Oakland Athletics 2-1 yesterday.

21 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS & PETE MOYLAN BOTH RELIEVE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Peter Moylan

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS pitched another solid inning of relief for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 4-7 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. Liam once again kept the bottom of the seventh tidy, even after Odubel Herrera slapped a leadoff single back up the middle. Hendriks responded to fan both Jeff Francouer and Darin Ruf. A two out walk was also nullified when he got Freddy Galvis to foul out to the third baseman from the very next pitch to end the inning. He further lowered his ERA to 2.31 with 1.0ip 1h 0er 1bb 2k.

Aussie veteran PETE MOYLAN was called upon to throw just two pitches for the one out required during the Atlanta Braves 2-3 defeat at the hands of the San Diego Padres. With two runners aboard and two out in the bottom of the seventh, Moylan got his job done by getting Matt Kemp to line out to centre field to end the inning. His line of 0.1ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k (4.50 ERA) kept the score at 1-3 at the time.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-3 (.251) plus a walk to help his Tampa Bay Rays to edge out the Houston Astros by the narrowest of 1-0 margins.

After allowing his first earned run last outing MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was tagged for a home run while pitching an inning of relief for the Baltimore Orioles during their tight 5-4 win over the New York Mets. He registered the pitching line of 1.1ip 1h 1er 0bb 1k (1.86 ERA) after Wilmer Flores took him deep.

Used as a pinch hitter, TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) wasn't about to miss the party when he batted 1-1 (.295) with a RBI double that helped to pad the Detroit Tigers 15-8 win over the Chicago Cubs on a wind assisted, high scoring day at Wrigley Field.

19 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOT TO CLAIM HIS 4th WIN v PHILS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Mychal Givens

Aussie ace LIAM HENDRIKS improved his record to 4-0 when he collected an impressive win while pitching in relief for the Toronto Blue Jays during their 8-5 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Liam was summoned to action earlier than both he and the Blue Jays might have liked when knuckleball starter R.A. Dickey struggled and he had loaded the bases with nobody out in the bottom of the fifth. He promptly turned to the "pitcher's best friend" when he induced a double play ground ball from Jeff Francouer who rolled over one to the second baseman, even though a run scored on the play. Hendriks then completed his tough job by having Ryan Howard struck out swinging to end the inning. In doing so the Aussie had kept the game within reach for Toronto's high-powered offence to overturn the advantage in the top of the sixth. Liam's line for the day was 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k, to give him the increasingly impressive season record of 4-0, 2.36 ERA. Way to go!

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-3 (.257) and he scored run to help the New York Yankees to double the Minnesota Twins 8-4.

Still doing an underrated job as a platoon outfielder for the Detroit Tigers is TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) who batted 1-4 (.287) plus a RBI during their 10-8 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) finally saw his unblemished ERA broken when a horrible fielding error culminated in an extended inning that left him with 1.0ip 1h 2r 1er 0bb 1k (1.08 ERA) after his Baltimore Orioles were beaten 3-5 by the streaking New York Mets.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) had another good day in the majors with 2-4 (.252) for the Tampa Bay Rays who were edged 2-3 by the contending Houston Astros.

18 AUG 2015 - PETER MOYLAN TAGGED BY PADRES LONG BALL!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Australia's comeback player of the century PETER MOYLAN was in major league action again, but he was unable to escape unscathed with 1.0ip 2h 1er 0bb 0k (5.40 ERA) at the end of his Atlanta Braves 3-5 defeat by the San Diego Padres. Pete pitched the Braves' final inning of the game and it wouldn't have pleased him that he allowed the Padres to add-on another run in the bottom of the eighth. It started with Matt Kemp poking a leadoff single into left field ahead of Justin Upton grounding into a double play to the second baseman that cleared the bases. That proved to be a bigger play when next batter Yonder Alonso clocked a home run over right field. Moylan finished off the inning with Jedd Gyorko flying out to centre field.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.221) plus walk for the Tampa Bay Rays to help them to thump the Houston Astros 9-2.

17 AUG 2015 - PETER MOYLAN BACK IN THE BIG LEAGUES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
After such a long haul of injury rehabilitation, it was just great for Aussie baseball fans to see our veteran reliever PETER MOYLAN making it all the way back to the major leagues with the Atlanta Braves. In his first comeback game Pete played an important role with 0.2ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k (0.00 ERA) that helped the Braves to hold out the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-1. With one on and one out in the top of the eighth Moylan was asked to keep the score tied while pitching to the meat of the 'D-Backs' lineup. He got Aaron Hill to ground out to the short stop and All Star Paul Goldschmidt to fly out to centre field to end the inning. His work should not be undervalued as helping his team to finally prevail on Cameron Maybin's walkoff homer to lead off the bottom of the tenth inning.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) also played a vital role in a losing cause for the Detroit Tigers when he batted 3-4 (.289), including a game tying RBI during their narrow 5-6 loss to the Houston Astros.

Another player to enjoy a big three-hit game was KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) who batted 3-4 (.249) with a run scored and a run batted in for the Tampa Bay Rays who lost on the road 3-5 to the unpredictable Texas Rangers.

16 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS HIS NERVE v YANKEES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Mychal Givens

Aussie LIAM HENDRIKS was called upon just to get the final out for the Toronto Blue Jays at the end of a 1-4 loss to the New York Yankees today. With the speedy Brett Gardner aboard on first base and with two out in the top of the ninth inning there was little doubt that Gardner would be seeking to get into scoring position when Liam was called to the hill. As predicted Gardner did manage to steal second base and he advanced further to third on a wild pitch before Chris Young eventually walked. Hendriks held his nerve to then win a tough seven pitch battle with Yankee slugger Mark Teixeira who he struck out swinging to maintain faint hopes for his team to rally. He recorded the pitching line of 0.1ip 0h 0er 1bb 1k (2.40 ERA). Although he didn't get a hit today, DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 2-4 (.264 for the Yanks in their narrow 4-3 win over the Jays yesterday.

That valuable veteran DAVID ROSS (MLB All-Stars 2001) made another start behind the dish for the Chicago Cubs today, batting 1-4 (.184) and scoring a run to help them to double the cross-town rival Chicago White Sox 6-3.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted a very useful 2-5 (.266) for the Detroit Tigers who eventually outlasted the Houston Astros 4-2 in eleven innings.

After another scoreless outing yesterday, converted middle infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) is still protecting an impressive 0.00 ERA with his latest 2.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 3k for the Baltimore Orioles in their 8-6 win over the Oakland Athletics.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.245) for the Tampa Bay Rays during their 3-5 loss to the hot and cold Texas Rangers.

One player who took full advantage of his chance to start at left field was BRANDON BARNES (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) who batted 2-3 (.260) with a triple and a pair of runs batted in for the Colorado Rockies, but it was not enough to prevent them from taking a 5-9 defeat by the San Diego Padres.

13 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS HELPS JAYS TO BEAT A's!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Kevin Kiermaier

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS might not be getting a lot of work lately, but he would still appreciate the current streak of success enjoyed by his Toronto Blue Jays who are now serious contenders to go deep into the post season. Liam helped the Jays to roll past the Oakland Athletics 10-3 today with a tidy enough 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 1k (2.42 ERA). Hendriks tucked away a scoreless top of the eighth that started with a seven pitch, full count, battle with Brett Lawrie who he eventually struck out swinging before Josh Reddick singled up the middle from his next pitch. That hit was very quickly neutralised when he got Danny Valencia to ground into a double play initiated by the second baseman. In his usual efficient manner, Liam threw eight of only twelve pitches for strikes to make sure that the game kept moving.

Recent ABL import DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was a key player in a "wild" 16 inning epic yesterday when he batted 3-6 (.265) for the New York Yankees who were eventually edged 5-4 by the Cleveland Indians who were walkoff winners in the bottom of the 16th.

Starting centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) came through with his fifth home run of the season while batting 1-3 (.244) with two runs batted in for the Tampa Bay Rays who blanked the visiting Atlanta Braves 2-0 in inter-league play.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-3 (.257), plus a walk, as the starting left fielder for the Detroit Tigers who were soundly beaten 1-6 by the in-form Kansas City Royals.

Still riding the crest of his unblemished record is former ABL infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who didn't exactly breeze through his latest scoreless outing of relief pitching. He recorded the line of 1.1ip 1h 0er 1bb 1k (0.00 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who lost narrowly 5-6 to the Seattle Mariners.

9 AUG 2015 - SEVERAL ABL IMPORTS FEATURE IN ABL ACTION!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Didi Gregorius
David Ross

Short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-3 (.259) as one of only three safe hits for the New York Yankees who were strangled by ace recruit David Price and the Toronto Blue Jays today in a 0-6 shutout loss. He also batted 2-4 yesterday as the Yankees fell 1-2 to the Jays in ten innings.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) ripped a two RBI single in the bottom of the first inning as a vital contribution to the Tampa Bay Rays narrow 5-4 victory over the well performed New York Mets. With 1-4 (.244) in that game, Kevin also batted 1-4 in yesterday's 3-4 defeat by the Mets.

Platoon catcher DAVID ROSS (MLB All-Stars 2001) batted 1-4 (.189) and he drove in a run for the Chicago Cubs to help them to top the San Francisco Giants 7-3 yesterday.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-2 (.270) for the Detroit Tigers who lost 2-7 to the visiting Boston Red Sox yesterday.

One pitcher who could not be blamed for the San Diego Padres' tight 3-4 loss to the battling Philadelphia Phillies in a 12 inning epic was former ABL import BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) who did a tidy relief job with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (3.00 ERA).

6 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS HOLDS 5th TO STIFLE TWINS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Aussie star LIAM HENDRIKS wasn't going easy on his original professional team when he struck out three hitters to record his fifth save today as his Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Minnesota Twins 9-7. Liam threw 13 of 17 pitches for strikes in another convincing 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 3k (2.47 ERA) performance of middle relief. Hendriks had already fanned Eddie Rosario before Eduardo Escobar gave him a hiccup with a ringing double to deep left centre. It mattered little when the Aussie bounced back to have Eric Fryer called out on strikes and Shane Robinson struck out swinging to end the scoreless inning.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was one of only five player on his team to register a hit today with 1-3 (.258) for the New York Yankees who were frustrated by knuckleballer Steven Wright in a 1-2 home loss to the Boston Red Sox.

With a double today TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) contributed 1-3 (.263) plus a run scored to help the Detroit Tigers to edge the Kansas City Royals 2-1.

5 AUG 2015 - VETERAN DAVID ROSS STILL VERY HANDY
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

David Ross

With plenty of grey colour featuring in his customary beard, Chicago Cubs veteran catcher DAVID ROSS (MLB All-Stars 2001) simply continues to provide value at the major league level. He batted 1-4 (.186) plus a walk and a run batted in during their 5-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. In yesterday's game he also helped his ace pitching team mate Jon Lester when he picked-off a couple of base runners with his throwing arm from behind the dish. We neglected to mention a remarkable feat that Ross achieved a few days ago when he was called upon to pitch a clean inning near the end of a blowout loss and he then also homered in the same game!

Still maintaining his unblemished major league career to date is converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who closed out the Baltimore Orioles comfortable 9-2 win over the Oakland Athletics.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted a significant 3-5 (.247) with two RBIs and a run scored as his contribution to the Tampa Bay Rays heavy 11-3 defeat of the Chicago White Sox.

3 AUG 2015 - DIDI GREGORIUS HITS; BRANDON MAURER LOSES
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Didi Gregorius
Recent ABL import DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) is enjoying his involvement in the New York Yankees' recent "feeding frenzies" with 2-4 (.260) plus a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored as they put up double-digit runs again in a 12-3 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Outfielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.246) as a minor contribution to the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 comeback win over the lowly Boston Red Sox.

Although he has had pretty good success this season, BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) was not immune from the nightmare outing that occasionally afflicts all pitchers, especially short relievers. He was harshly dealt with in his fourth loss of the season when he posted 0.1ip 1h 3er 2bb 0k to see his record stand at 7-4, 3.06 ERA.

2 AUG 2015 - LIAM HENDRIKS WINS HIS 3RD ON STRONG WEEKEND!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Brandon Maurer

Australia's 31st and, perhaps unfortunately, still our last new major league player LIAM HENDRIKS enjoyed another most convincing weekend of clutch pitching for the contending Toronto Blue Jays. On Saturday he earned his third win of the season with a decisive 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k at the sharp end of the Jays' tight 7-6 win over the strong Kansas City Royals team. In that game Liam maintained a tied ballgame in the top of the eleventh when he got Lorenzo Cain grounding back to the mound, Eric Hosmer grounded out to the first baseman and Kendrys Morales struck out swinging. The win was his when Toronto mustered a walkoff run in the home half of the same frame. Hendriks also had a quiet inning in their 6-7 loss to the Royals the day after with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k that further lowered his ERA to 2.53. In the top of the ninth he got Alex Rios to fly out to centre field before pinch hitter Mike Moustakas was hit by a pitch. It amounted to nothing when Omar Infante was fanned and Alcides Escobar flied out to centre field. In this case there was no late comeback for the Blue Jays.

Our most recent ABL import to reach the majors, MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) collected his first win in the big leagues with 1.2ip 1h 0er 0bb 2k that helped the Baltimore Orioles to edge past the Detroit Tigers 8-7. His record stands at 1-0, 0.00 ERA as a perfect start to his major league career.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) also took another win on the weekend with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k for the San Diego Padres who rolled the Miami Marlins 8-3. His record improved to 7-3, 2.54 ERA.

Doing his bit for the Colorado Rockies in their 0-7 loss to the St.Louis Cardinals was starting left fielder BRANDON BARNES (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) who batted 1-4 (.281).

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) enjoyed a solid 2-4 (.245) effort with a run batted in for the Tampa Bay Rays who were overrun 11-7 by the Boston Red Sox.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-3 (.257) with a RBI for the New York Yankees during their 2-8 defeat at the hands of the streaking Chicago White Sox.
