31 AUG 2016 - PETER MOYLAN OK IN LOSS TO YANKS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Experienced Aussie PETER MOYLAN threw five of six pitches for strikes while pitching 0.2ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (3.48 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who finally fell 4-5 to the New York Yankees over ten innings. Pete took the ball to begin the top of the eighth and he rapidly disposed of Aaron Judge who flied out to centre field and Tyler Austin who fouled out to third. However, he was lifted after Brett Gardner singled to left in favour of a lefty-lefty matchup to face Jacoby Ellsbury. This time Yankee shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-5 (.287) plus a run scored to help get New York over the line in the end.

Starting centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.221) and he scored a run to help the Tampa Bay Rays to sneak past the Boston Red Sox 4-3 at Fenway Park.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) was back in the lineup at centre field for the Milwaukee Brewers batting 1-3 (.226) with a run scored in their narrow 1-2 home defeat by the St. Louis Cardinals.

30 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN BATTLES IN WIN OVER YANKEES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Resilient Aussie PETER MOYLAN didn't exactly have a comfortable ride while pitching 0.2ip 1h 0r 0er 1bb 0k (3.55 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who held off the competitive New York Yankees 8-5 at Kauffman Stadium. He was handed the poisoned chalice in the top of the eighth with runners perched on second and third bases and nobody out, and with the Yanks in the midst of a furious rally. His first pitch was greeted by a sacrifice fly from Starlin Castro who lifted a fly ball to left field for a RBI before he got catcher Brian McCann to ground out to the first baseman for the initial out. Chase Headley reached on an infield single to plate another run for the Yankees and Moylan was chased from the hill when he issued a four pitch walk to pinch hitter Brett Gardner. In the same game shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) was again a terrific offensive performer for the 'Bronx Bombers' with 3-5 (.288) with two RBIs and two runs scored in the losing cause.

Converted former ABL import infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched a useful 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 1k (3.54 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who couldn't find enough offence in a 1-5 defeat by the Toronto Blue Jays.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.220) for the Tampa Bay Rays who were trumped 4-9 by the home-standing Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

29 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS STAYS SHARP v CARDINALS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Kevin Kiermaier

Oakland Athletics' Aussie reliever LIAM HENDRIKS continues to be extremely effective with eight of nine pitches thrown for strikes during his very sharp 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.91 ERA) that earned him his sixth hold in their 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. In very short order Liam struck out Tommy Pham, got Matt Carpenter to fly out to centre field and had Jedd Gyorko ground out to the third baseman to put away the bottom of the eighth. The day prior Hendriks took his fifth hold of the campaign with 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k that helped the A's to hold off the Cards 3-2 at Busch Stadium. In the bottom of the eighth Liam polished off the clean inning by fanning both Jedd Gyorko and Brandon Moss.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.284) for the New York Yankees who were shut out 0-5 by the contending Baltimore Orioles. He was even better the day before when he batted 2-4 plus a walk, a RBI and three runs scored in 13-5 win for the Yanks over the O's.

Starting centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.220) plus a walk to help the Tampa Bay Rays to squash the Houston Astros 10-4 this morning. Yesterday Kiermaier batted 1-4 for the Rays during a 2-6 defeat by the Astros.

Detroit Tigers' outfielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) made the most of a pinch hitting opportunity off the bench with 2-3 (.222) during their narrow 2-3 loss to the Los Angeles Angels.

26 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN OK FOR KC IN LOSS TO MARLINS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Didi Gregorius

Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN must have felt like he was doing overtime when he was "extended" to two outs, rather than the one batter he had been facing recently. Pete pitched a relatively efficient 0.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (3.45 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who were blanked 0-3 by the Miami Marlins in interleague play. However, he couldn't prevent the Marlins' third run from crossing the plate after being called to action with runners on the corners and one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. The run scored when Marcel Ozuna lifted a sacrifice fly to left field and the runner from first also advanced to second. Moylan then ended the inning by getting J.T Realmuto to ground out to the third baseman.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) would have a fair case to suggest that the Minnesota Twins "pitched around me" today when he walked no less than three times while batting 0-2 (.210) for the Detroit Tigers in their 8-3 victory today.

Helping the re-jigged New York Yankees to swamp the Seattle Mariners 5-0 was shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) who batted 1-4 (.283) plus a sacrifice bunt in another solid contribution.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) pitched another clean 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (4.58 ERA) at the end of the San Diego Padres 3-6 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Cubs.

Middle reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) recorded his tenth hold of the season with a moderate 1.2ip 2h 1er 0bb 3k (3.17 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who outlasted the Washington Nationals 10-8 in a high scoring game.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-6 (.226) as a minor contributor for the Tampa Bay Rays who snipped the visiting Boston Red Sox 4-3 after eleven innings.

23 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN HOLDS; LIAM HENDRIKS FANS THREE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Keon Broxton

Australian star LIAM HENDRIKS pitched a highly impressive 1.1ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 3k (4.13 ERA) in his most recent outing. He struck out three of the five batters he faced for the Oakland Athletics who still couldn't take the "W" in a 2-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox. With runners on the corners and two out in the bottom of the fifth, Liam got the call to duty and he held the fort by getting the powerful Jose Abreu to line out to the shortstop to end the inning. In the bottom of the sixth he struck out former Batting Champion Justin Morneau, Omar Narvaez and Carlos Sanchez in a terrific performance, interrupted only by Todd Frazier's one out double to deep centre field. You simply couldn't ask for any more than that!

Compatriot PETER MOYLAN threw three straight strikes for the one out he needed to collect his fifth hold of the season with 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (3.52 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who just edged the Minnesota Twins 2-1 at Kauffman Stadium. With one runner aboard, Moylan was asked to clean up the last out in the top of the seventh and he promptly summoned one of his trademark ground balls that Miguel Sano slapped to the shortstop. It was all a bit routine for 'Big Pete' on this occasion.

Make sure not to touch recent ABL import KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) who is running red hot lately with two more home run balls as a key contribution to the Milwaukee Brewers' narrow 7-6 win over the Seattle Mariners. He batted 2-5 (.250) in a feast or famine effort that saw the two "jacks" somewhat balanced by three strike outs.

Reliable middle reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) could not maintain a clean sheet today when he pitched 1.0ip 1h 1er 0bb 2k for the Baltimore Orioles who hung on to beat the visiting Washington Nationals 4-3. The one hit he allowed was a home run by Nats' shortstop Danny Espinosa.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-1 (.222) after coming off the pine for the Tampa Bay Rays to help them to double the dangerous Texas Rangers 8-4.

Unable to help his New York Yankees to get on the scoreboard in a 0-2 shutout loss to the Los Angeles Angels was DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) who batted 1-4 (.285).

  18 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN A BIT WAYWARD v MINNESOTA TWINS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Keon Broxton

Experienced Australian right hander PETER MOYLAN wasn't exactly at his tidiest while pitching another brief 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 2bb 0k (3.56 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who outlasted the Minnesota Twins 5-4 over eleven innings at Kauffman Stadium. Moylan took over the bump for the top of the seventh and he needed just one pitch to retire Danny Santana who bunted unsuccessfully as the leadoff batter for Pete to secure his own assist on the force out. However, when he then issued successive free passes to Brian Dozier and Jorge Polanco his day was done. Fortunately those one out walks didn't result in any scoreboard damage on this occasion.

New York Yankees short stop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) continues to deliver surprising power this season with a 17th long ball coming as part of his 2-5 (.285) with two RBIs that helped them to roll over the Los Angeles Angels in a 7-0 shutout.

Almost matching him over the last month is KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) who "went yard" for the fourth time this season while batting 3-4 (.250) with a walk and two RBIs that was not quite enough for his Milwaukee Brewers who succumbed 6-7 in a tight loss to the Seattle Mariners.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) pitched 0.2ip 0h 0er 1bb 0k (4.66 ERA) in relief for the San Diego Padres who beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-4.

Middle reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) pitched a solid 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 0k (3.00 ERA) but too much damage had already been done by the Houston Astros who thumped his Baltimore Orioles 12-2 this morning.

19 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS ROCKED BY RANGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks
A terrific run of relief pitching success came to a bit of a sticky end for Aussie ace LIAM HENDRIKS who was not at his sharpest while pitching 0.2ip 2h 1r 1er 2bb 0k (4.24 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics in a tough spot during their 2-6 loss to the tough Texas Rangers in Arlington. In the bottom of the seventh with his team already trailing 2-3, Hendriks inherited two runners aboard with nobody out and with the teeth of a dangerous Rangers lineup ready to come to the plate with bad intentions.
With a double-steal during the plate appearance, he eventually lost a nine pitch battle with Delino DeShields who walked to load the bags. Ian Desmond took advantage with a RBI single into right, yet there was some relief when Liam induced a double play from veteran slugger Carlos Beltran. With an open base at first Hendriks took no chances with the ultra-dangerous Adrian Beltre who he intentionally walked, but the ploy was undone by recent Texas acquisition Jonathan Lucroy who drove in two with his double to right field that brought an end to the outing for our man. In baseball, as in life, you just can't win 'em all!

Former ABL import shortstop MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) continues to be a key piece in the Baltimore Orioles bullpen with his latest scoreless effort of 1.1ip 0h 0er 0bb 2k (3.05 ERA) during their 13-5 massacre of the disappointing Houston Astros.

18 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN EXTREMELY EFFICIENT v TIGERS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan
Resilient Australian evergreen PETER MOYLAN delivered the last rites to the Detroit Tigers by pitching a clean final inning at the end of their 1-6 defeat by Pete's Kansas City Royals. In the bottom of the ninth Moylan was a model of efficiency by using just six pitches to strike out Casey McGhee, have Victor Martinez ground out to first and J.D Martinez to line out to right field, the last two of those on just one pitch each. His tidy line for the game was 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.60 ERA). In this game TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 0-3 (.232) while striking out twice for the Tigers.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) didn't register a hit, but he did walk once while batting 0-3 (.224) for the Milwaukee Brewers who were shut out 0-4 by the division leading Chicago Cubs. Yesterday Broxton batted a more productive 2-4 when the 'Brew Crew' were also second best in a 1-4 loss to the 'Cubbies'.

Pitching for the Baltimore Orioles at the end of their 3-5 home defeat by the visiting Boston Red Sox was converted infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who recorded the line of 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 2k (3.13 ERA).

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) supplied his 16th long ball of the season while batting 2-4 (.287) with a pair of RBIs for the New York Yankees, but it was to no avail when the 'Bronx Bombers' were doubled 6-12 by the in-form Toronto Blue Jays.

16 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS & PETE MOYLAN BOTH GET IT DONE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Kevin Kiermaier

Australia's former starting pitcher LIAM HENDRIKS is finding some confidence as a reliever with another scoreless outing of 1.1ip 2h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (4.11 ERA) for the Oakland Athletics during their 2-5 defeat by the Texas Rangers in Arlington. With one on and two out in the bottom of the fifth Liam got Elvis Andrus to ground into a fielder's choice to the shortstop to conclude that frame.
Hendriks also got two quick outs in the bottom of the sixth with Jurickson Profar struck out swinging and Mitch Moreland lining out to centre field before the Rangers tried to ramp up the pressure. Nomar Mazara singled to right and Ian Desmond reached on an infield single but the Aussie had the answer when he got powerhouse veteran Carlos Beltran to foul out to the third baseman from the first pitch he faced. Hendriks has steadily lowered his ERA since the All Star break.

Seeming to have been cast in the role of a "one batter specialist" lately, veteran Aussie PETER MOYLAN has been getting the job done and he did so again yesterday to record his fourth hold of the season for the Kansas City Royals who got the better of their division rival Detroit Tigers 3-1. With one on and two out in the bottom of the seventh Pete was asked to relieve KC starter Ian Kennedy by facing James McCann who reached on an infield single that was mishandled by the short stop. With a runner now in scoring position, Moylan got pinch hitter Mike Aviles to pop out to the first baseman in foul territory after a seven pitch battle.
His line for the game was 0.1ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (3.72 ERA) after throwing seven of ten pitches for strikes.
In the opposing camp centre fielder TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-4 (.239) before being ejected from the game for expressing his discontent following his second strike out for the night.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) smacked his seventh home run of the season as the highlight of a big day that saw him bat 3-4 (.228) with a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Tampa Bay Rays as a sizeable part of their 8-2 win over the San Diego Padres.

15 AUG 2016 - JI-MAN CHOI CLOCKS HIS FIFTH HOMER OF THE SEASON!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Ji-Man Choi
Making a big offensive contribution for the Los Angeles Angels was platoon player JI-MAN CHOI (Adelaide Bite 2013) who clouted his fifth round-tripper of the season while batting 1-3 (.168) with a walk and a pair of RBIs in their narrow 4-5 loss to the tough Cleveland Indians on the road. The versatile big man from Korea started the game at left field before shifting to first base in a defensive re-alignment.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.288) as one decent performer for the New York Yankees who were mauled 3-12 by the lowly Tampa Bay Rays at New Yankee Stadium.

Obviously earning an elevation up to the leadoff slot is KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) who rewarded the faith with 1-4 (.230) plus a walk and two runs scored as the starting centre fielder for the Milwaukee Brewers who turned over the Cincinnati Reds 7-3 at Miller Park.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) also started at centre field for the Detroit Tigers with a useful 2-5 (.239) to help them to blank the home-standing Texas Rangers 7-0.

14 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS VERY SHARP ; WARWICK SAUPOLD RETURNS!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Tyler Collins

Mychal Givens

Aussie flag bearer LIAM HENDRIKS was as sharp as a razor for the Oakland Athletics while helping them to prevail 6-3 over the Seattle Mariners at Oakland Coliseum. Liam threw 11 of 14 pitches for strikes to punch out all three hitters he faced in an impressive 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 3k (4.30 ERA) effort. Pitching the top of the seventh, Hendriks rattled through Dae-Ho Lee who fanned on four pitches, Kayle Seager who was called out on strikes from just three and then he whiffed Mike Zunino to finish his job. He definitely looks to be finishing the 2016 season strongly for a non-contending team.

Hendriks would have been happy to see his WA team mate WARWICK SAUPOLD back in the big leagues with a very solid 3.0ip 4h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (7.45 ERA) as a middle reliever for the Detroit Tigers who went down 5-8 to the Texas Rangers in Arlington. It was nervous stuff for Warwick soon after he took over the hill with one on and nobody out in the bottom of the fifth. When Rougned Odor and Jonathan Lucroy both greeted him with singles he had the base juiced and still nobody out. Fortunately Saupold was able to compose himself to get Mitch Moreland to ground into a fielder's choice that enabled the first baseman to get a force out at home. Nomar Mazara followed with a first pitch pop out to short and Elvis Andrus flied out to right to get him out of the big jam. Saupold found himself battling a bit again in the sixth when a leadoff single by Shin-Soo Choo and a two out double from veteran Adrian Beltre had runners on the corners yet, once again, he was able to escape the threat by getting Odor to line out to right. It was much calmer for our man in the top of the seventh when he sat down Lucroy, Moreland and Mazara for a neat 1-2-3 frame.
In this game TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) nailed his fourth home run of the campaign while batting 1-5 (.229) with two runs driven in for the Tigers.

Shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) delivered his 15th long ball of a productive season this morning while batting 2-4 (.289) with a pair of RBIs for the New York Yankees that helped them to double the Tampa Bay Rays 8-4. In the opposing camp KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted 1-4 (.217) with a run scored for the Rays. Didi also batted 1-3 plus a walk and a run scored during the Yanks' 6-3 win over Tampa the day prior.

Providing another solid relief effort was MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) who pitched a strong 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 2k (3.19 ERA) that helped the Baltimore Orioles to hold off the San Francisco Giants 5-2.

KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted another more than useful 2-4 (.229) with a RBI and a run scored for the Milwaukee Brewers who were rolled 5-11 by the Cincinnati Reds.

By failing to close out the bottom of the eleventh inning today, seasoned reliever BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) was saddled with his third loss of the season when his San Diego Padres were outlasted 2-3 by the New York Mets. His season record slumped to 0-3 (4.80 ERA). It was a lot more positive for Maurer yesterday when he collected his fifth save of the season by pitching 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 0k to help his Padres to outlast the Mets 8-6.

12 AUG 2016 - THREE PITCH STRIKE OUT FOR PETE MOYLAN!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Keon Broxton

Aussie evergreen PETER MOYLAN struck out the only batter he was asked to face as a middle reliever for the Kansas City Royals who outlasted the Chicago White Sox 3-2 over a 14-inning epic. With two aboard and two out in the top of the seventh Pete was called from the bullpen to deal with Tim Anderson who he dispatched with just three pitches for an inning ending strike out. Moylan recorded the line of 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.77 ERA) after his brief but very convincing effort.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.286) to help the New York Yankees to edge past the Boston Red Sox 3-2 this morning. Yesterday he batted 2-5 with a walk and two runs scored for the Yanks who upset the 'Bosox' with a big 9-4 comeback win at Fenway Park.

Continuing to lift his offensive profile with the Milwaukee Brewers is recent ABL import KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) who batted 1-3 (.219) with a walk and two runs scored that contributed to their 11-3 punishment of the Atlanta Braves. He seems to have solidified his current status as the starting centre fielder for the struggling 'Brew Crew'.

TYLER GOEDDEL (Brisbane Bandits 2014) was back starting at left field for the Philadelphia Phillies and, although he didn't hit safely, he did milk a walk while batting 0-2 (.199) in their 6-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Helping the San Diego Padres to close out a 4-0 shutout win over the Pittsburgh Pirates was BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) who took care of the ninth inning with 1.0ip 0h 0er 0bb 1k (4.75 ERA).

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) bated a useful 2-4 (.217) to do his best for the Tampa Bay Rays who were blanked 0-7 by the streaking Toronto Blue Jays.

8 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS & PETE MOYLAN BOTH DO A TOP JOB!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Didi Gregorius

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS was right back on track today with a most convincing relief outing for the Oakland Athletics who were topped again 1-3 by the high rolling Chicago Cubs. Liam threw ten of 13 pitches for strikes while rescuing the team from disaster with runners at the corners and nobody out in the top of the eighth. Hendriks quickly erased Addison Russell and Jorge Soler via the rally killing strike out route before ending the frame without further damage by getting Willson Contreras to ground out to the second baseman. Unfortunately the A's could not reward him with a comeback rally, yet he could do no more in a terrific effort for his team. His 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 2k (4.57 ERA) was exactly what they needed at the time.

Aussie veteran PETER MOYLAN struck out the one batter he faced today to record his third hold of 2016 with 0.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (3.81 ERA) for the Kansas City Royals who rolled the Toronto Blue Jays 7-1. Facing Juan Bautista as the final out in the top of the seventh, Pete issued a wild pitch that allowed the Blue Jays only run to cross the plate before he had the dangerous slugger struck out swinging to end the inning.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) nailed his 13th dinger of the season as a decisive blow in the New York Yankees tight 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians this morning. He batted 1-3 (.288) with that vital run driven in.

Batting in the unfamiliar leadoff slot, recent ABL import TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-3 (.250) for the Detroit Tigers who were beaten 1-3 by the visiting New York Mets.

Coming off some hot hitting lately, KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) did not claim a hit today, but he did walk twice while batting 0-2 (.211) for the Milwaukee Brewers who were crushed 3-9 by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

  7 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN HOLDS 2ND - LIAM HENDRIKS BATTLES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Keon Broxton

Mychal Givens

Evergreen Aussie PETER MOYLAN claimed his second hold of the season this morning when he pitched 1.1ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 3k (3.06 ERA) in an impressive effort that helped his Kansas City Royals to double the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2. Pete joined the fray with a runner on second and two out in the top of the seventh that he closed down by striking out Devon Travis on four tough pitches. Moylan also banked the top of the eighth that began strongly with Jose Bautista grounding out to the third baseman and Josh Donaldson struck out swinging. Edwin Encarnacion reached on a throwing error but Pete held firm to fan Russell Martin to end the inning. Our seasoned relief star had taken care of one of the most dangerous strings of hitters in all of baseball. Yesterday Moylan also posted a clean inning of work with 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k in KC's 3-4 loss to Toronto. In this game Pete took good care of the top of the seventh with Darwin Barney flying out to centre field, Devon Travis grounding out to first and Jose Bautista struck out swinging on three pitches.

Following a terrific sequence of most effective outings recently the inevitable speed-bump arrived for Aussie right hander LIAM HENDRIKS today when he was tagged for a couple of runs during his Oakland Athletics 0-4 shutout loss to the tough Chicago Cubs. Facing the meat of the 'Cubbies' lineup when he took over for the top of the sixth, he was immediately on the back foot when slugger Anthony Rizzo pummelled a double to deep right to lead off the inning. Ben Zobrist grounded out to the second baseman to advance Rizzo to third and he scored on Addison Russell's infield single to the third baseman. Jason Heyward flied out to centre field after Russell had stolen second and young gun Jorge Soler delivered with a RBI double. Hendriks struck out Miguel Montero to end the inning , but he wouldn't be entirely happy about allowing those two extra base hits, or the two runs that crossed the plate. His line for the day was 1.0ip 3h 2r 2er 0bb 1k (4.69 ERA).

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) had a "career day" for the Milwaukee Brewers today with a tremendous 5-5 (.215) that included a walk, a run scored and two RBIs that helped them to maul the Arizona Diamondbacks 15-4. He may have taken confidence from the previous day when he clocked his third home run of the season while batting 1-1 in a 2-3 loss to the 'Snakes' after eleven innings.

BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) had a rough day trying to close out the San Diego Padres 9-7 win over the Philadelphia Phillies when he was made to battle for a not-so clinical 1.0ip 3h 3er 1bb 1k (4.85 ERA) in the top of the ninth.

With three punch outs helping to neutralise a pair of hits, middle reliever MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) was able to escape unscathed with 1.0ip 2h 0er 0bb 3k (3.38 ERA) for the Baltimore Orioles who were topped 2-4 by the Chicago White Sox.

Still carrying some recent good batting form is TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) who the New York Mets could not get out today when he batted 2-2 (.246) with a pair of walks to help his Detroit Tigers to prevail narrowly 6-5.

5 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS & PETE MOYLAN BOTH VERY EFFECTIVE!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Maintaining his strong form over the past month or so is Aussie reliever LIAM HENDRIKS who hurled 1.2ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.35 ERA) during their 6-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. Liam threw an ultra-efficient ten of 12 pitches for strikes after entering the fray in a tough situation with the bases loaded and only one out in the bottom of the seventh. He did a mighty job to hold his nerve by getting a ground ball to the third baseman from Shane Robinson that resulted in a big fielder's choice out at home plate. Hendriks then killed off the threat by getting Carlos Perez to pop out to the first baseman as the kept the A's within striking range at 4-6. With the 'Halos' lead narrowed to 5-6, Liam then made very short work of the bottom of the eighth with Cliff Pennington grounding back to the mound, Yunel Escobar flying out to centre field and Cole Calhoun flying out to left field for a six pitch inning. It was another top effort by the Aussie ace!

Australia's PETER MOYLAN had the mop-up duty of pitching the last inning of a futile losing cause at the bitter end of his Kansas City Royals' painful 0-12 shutout hammering at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays.
At least Pete avoided most of the carnage when he pitched an effective 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 1bb 1k (4.21 ERA) in the bottom of the eighth. Pete struck out Tim Beckham and then got Curt Casali to ground out to short before issuing Logan Forsythe a full count walk. He polished off the inning by getting former ABL import KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) to fly out to right field. It was a pretty big day for Kiermaier who batted 2-4 (.222) with a homer, two walks, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Rays who piled on a dozen runs. It was his sixth round-tripper of the 2016 season.

Recent ABL import JI-MAN CHOI (Adelaide Bite 2013) had most surely his best day in the US major leagues today when he homered twice while batting 2-5 (.182) with four big RBIs for the Los Angeles Angels who still went down 6-8 to the Oakland Athletics in ten innings.

After making another start at left field for the Philadelphia Phillies, TYLER GOEDDEL (Brisbane Bandits 2014) also did his job offensively by batting 1-3 (.207) plus a walk in their narrow 2-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Tyler batted 1-1 after coming into the game as a defensive replacement for the 'Fightin' Phils' late in yesterday's 5-4 win over the Giants.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) batted 1-4 (.237) and he also walked once for the Detroit Tigers who were doubled-up 3-6 by the unpredictable Chicago White Sox.

DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 1-4 (.290) for the New York Yankees who were rolled 1-4 by the cross-town rival New York Mets this morning. Gregorius also batted 1-3 with two big RBIs for the Yankees in yesterday's 9-5 win over the Mets.

3 AUG 2016 - LIAM HENDRIKS DOES HIS JOB FOR OAKLAND!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Liam Hendriks

Tyler Collins

Australia's LIAM HENDRIKS struck out the only batter he faced while throwing just five pitches for the Oakland Athletics who were narrowly beaten 4-5 by the Los Angeles Angels. Liam was summoned from the pen with one on and two out in the bottom of the sixth, not long after the Angels had broken open a 2-2 tie to lead 5-2 in the same inning. He did the job asked of him by fanning right hander Shane Robinson to end the frame. It left him with the tidy pitching line of 1.0ip 0h 0r 0er 0bb 1k (4.54 ERA).

Finding his power stroke this season is New York Yankees shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) who cranked his twelfth long ball of the season while batting 1-4 (.290) as their only run scorer in a 1-7 defeat at the hands of the New York Mets.

Starting centre fielder KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) batted up the order in the #2 slot with some success during their 2-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals. He did pretty much all he could to lift the Rays by batting 2-4 (.215) plus a walk and a run scored.

Starting left fielder TYLER GOEDDEL (Brisbane Bandits 2014) walked and scored a decisive run for the Philadelphia Phillies while batting 0-3 (.200) during their topsy-turvy 13-8 win over the San Francisco Giants in a wild one.

TYLER COLLINS (Sydney Blue Sox 2012) saw plenty of time on base for the Detroit Tigers, helping them to swamp their division rival Chicago White Sox 11-5. Collins batted 1-3 (.236), but he also walked twice and he scored a run.

2 AUG 2016 - DIDI GREGORIUS DELIVERS BIG FOR YANKEES!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Didi Gregorius
New York Yankees shortstop DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) has had a terrific season, both offensively and defensively, but he may not have had a more uplifting or decisive performance than the one he produced in their 6-5 win over the cross-town rival New York Mets. Gregorius batted only 1-5 (.291), however, that one hit was a HUGE one that drove in two game-tying runs in the top of the eighth inning. His efforts allowed the Yanks to rally back and to finally win the game in the tenth inning.

The fact that he was pitching the ninth inning with a four run advantage meant that former ABL import BRANDON MAURER (Adelaide Bite 2011) was just outside the range of a save situation when he closed out a 7-3 win for the San Diego Padres over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers. Maurer pitched a solid 1.0ip 1h 0er 0bb 0k (4.41 ERA) in the low-pressure environment on this occasion. In this game KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) batted 0-4 (.163) for the defeated 'Brew Crew'.

1 AUG 2016 - PETE MOYLAN'S SHORT OUTING NOT SO SWEET!
Here is an update of what some Aussies and former AMLB imports have been doing in the US major leagues:

Peter Moylan

Mychal Givens

Aussie veteran PETER MOYLAN was called upon to throw just three pitches for the Kansas City Royals in the midst of their 3-5 loss to the Texas Rangers. They may have wanted him to throw more, but things simply didn't work out for him or the World Champs after he came to the mound with two runners aboard and only one out in the bottom of the seventh. With KC trailing 3-4 at the time, Hanser Alberto drilled his second pitch for a RBI double into left field to pad the lead. When his third pitch hit Delino DeShields to load the bags Moylan was given the hook, leaving his rather obvious pitching line at 0.1ip 1h 0r 0er 0bb 0k (4.38 ERA).

Centre fielder KEON BROXTON (Sydney Blue Sox 2014) ripped his second home run of the 2016 season while batting 1-2 (.171) plus a walk for the Milwaukee Brewers who doubled the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2.

Former ABL import infielder MYCHAL GIVENS (Perth Heat 2012) recorded his eighth win of the season when he pitched 1.0ip 0h 0er 1bb 0k for the Baltimore Orioles at just the right time during their 6-2 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. His impressive season record improved to 8-1, 3.59 ERA.

KEVIN KIERMAIER (Canberra Cavalry 2012) may not have managed a safe hit for the Tampa Bay Rays, but he did walk twice, drive in a run and score a run while batting 0-2 (.212) as part of their 5-3 win over the New York Yankees. In the opposing camp DIDI GREGORIUS (Canberra Cavalry 2011) batted 0-4 (.292).

JI-MAN CHOI (Adelaide Bite 2013) batted 1-4 (.171) for the Los Angeles Angels who were overrun 3-5 by the visiting Boston Red Sox who scored five runs in the top of the ninth to snatch the lollies.
